This is the hidden Gem in the French Alps! We had an absolutely wonderful experience staying at Refugio Des Prés. Perched on a high mountain plain in the French Alps, the location offers breathtaking 360-degree views that are nothing short of magical. The hike up took us through serene alpine meadows and peaceful forests, setting the tone for the tranquil retreat that awaited us. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Even when some of our group arrived several hours late and missed dinner, the staff kindly accommodated them without hesitation, something we deeply appreciated. The refuge itself is modern, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. The rooms are cozy with clean, comfortable bedding, and we loved the practical touches like a personal shelf for those on the top bunk. The hot showers were a welcome luxury after a day of hiking, and everything felt well cared for and newly maintained. Nature lovers will be delighted by the wild blueberry bushes scattered around the area, perfect for a spontaneous trail snack! The food was truly a highlight. Dinner was a delicious three-course meal, with some tables enjoying fondue. Our dessert was freshly made and absolutely mouthwatering. Every meal felt hearty, homemade, and satisfying—just what you want after a day in the mountains. Overall, our stay at Refugio Des Prés was exceptional. Between the stunning location, the warm and welcoming staff, the comfort of the facilities, and the incredible food, we couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an alpine retreat filled with charm and beauty. This is truly one of the best Refugio I’ve experienced in the Alps!

A nice, small refuge tucked away up in the mountains. The rooms are nice and clean. They have a good system of storing your gear in a mud room and letting you use a plastic bin to carry what you need up to the room. The dinner was very tasty. The packed lunch, also delicious with a really great baguette sandwich. The breakfast was all cold sadly. You had granola, milk, coffee, cheese, and bread. For hiking, I'd really appreciate a protein.

This refuge is by far the best in our first TMB journey. Yes, it’s a bit of a climb, but the scenery along the way and especially at the refuge is so worth it. All the staff there is very friendly and helpful. The facility is new and modern, but the best of all is their food! They made everything fresh from scratch that you wish you can stay for one more night, just for the food.
