Bavaria City Hostel - Design Hostel

Great location for visiting Neuschwanstein Castle and they do provide helpful info about bus times and visiting the castle. Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing. After backpacking across Europe for a month, this was our least favorite accommodation. We never saw any staff from arrival to checkout, and reception is only open for a short two-hour window in the morning which we went to 15 min after opening hours to check in but still no one showed up. NOTE: We paid extra for an “ensuite” bathroom, but it wasn’t actually attached to the room as en-suite would suggest. It was across the common hall area and was only a shower/tub + sink, still required using a separate shared toilet, which made the upgrade feel misleading and not worth the extra cost. Laundry facilities were also advertised but were under renovation when we arrived, with no prior notice from staff. For us, we specifically booked here because we needed laundry at that point in our trip and had to go to a laundromat which was more expensive. Another surprise was having to make our own bed upon arrival, with sheets folded and left on the mattress, something I’ve never experienced, even in hostels. Seemed like basic services skipped. The property also strongly controls facility use: there are live water meters on the showers, the kitchen power is shut off outside certain hours so you can’t cook whenever you need to, and shared shower rooms can only be used during specific posted times. Also people were very loud/partying at like 11:30pm -1am on our floor. Woke us up and no staff so nothing we could do about it. Overall, the location is excellent, but the misleading room description, lack of staff presence, and restrictive facility rules made this our least enjoyable stay of the trip. Please know what you are booking.

Excellent experience at Bavaria hostel. The owner Dominic made our stay very comfy. We definitely coming back since everything was clean, well maintain and smell fresh.

Be Alert and vigilant before booking. They will charge unnecessary penalties, charged. Really bad experience. Congested room structure, No staff support, strict check out force by sweeper/care taker, sharp 9:30 kitchen will be manually turned off🤐
