By The Way Hostel & Campsite

We arrived at By The Way Hostel well after closing time due to a major road accident that delayed our journey by several hours. Despite the late hour, we were warmly greeted by a very kind gentleman who took the time to thoroughly show us around the facilities — a gesture we truly appreciated after a long and stressful trip. The entire place was spotless, with clear care taken in maintaining high standards. Our room was a very pleasant surprise: bunk beds were comfortable with good quality pillows and duvets — much better than what you usually expect from a hostel stay. The shared kitchen was outstanding — spacious, clean, and impressively well-equipped for even more advanced cooking. Whether you're just reheating or preparing a full meal, it has everything you might need. In addition to rooms and dorms, the property also offers charming little round camping pods — like cozy hobbit holes — for those looking for a unique overnight experience. Overall, this was hands down the best hostel we stayed in during our time in Scotland. Highly recommended to hikers, road-trippers, and anyone exploring the Highlands.

A lovely campsite if you're walking the West Highland Way. It had a friendly atmosphere and the staff and small shop were lovely. We stayed one night, and used the showers and kitchen areas which were clean and functional. Short walk to a couple of shops for snacks and supplies. Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this little site.

Nice campground! Scotland was experiencing a heat wave when we went so our cabin was super toasty, but we left the door and window open to air it out a bit and it was much more pleasant. We did not use the showers or community toilet as our cabin had a toilet. However, we were pleased with our stay. Several food options and businesses within walking distance. Lots of parking available on site.
