Shirley and Tony are the lovely owners, very welcoming. Room was cozy and comfortable and so quiet and peaceful. Great location you can walk to the cove which is nice, lots of cute little pubs and restaurants near by. Great couple retreat or a family weekend. Breakfast was fresh every morning and was very well well made and presented. Lovely stay

Shirley was such a lovely host. We stayed for a night as a couple to visit Durdle door and areas around Lulworth Cove and Wareham. The room was lovely and comfortable. You get a separate bathroom, towels and bathrobes. There’s a small smart TV in the bedroom. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean - I feel they were cleaner than many 3 star hotels I’ve stayed in. You can also lock your room from both inside and outside. Continental breakfast was lovely with a wide variety of food and fruits. Lovely house in a convenient location. 15 minutes walk to Lulworth cove and a 1 hour hike to Durdle door (you need to hike up across a hill). Would highly recommend staying at Downalong.

Shirley was an excellent hostess. Even though due to extremely bad traffic arriving late at 11pm, she still stayed up to check us in. Provided great amenities and advice about the local area. Happy for us to leave out car there after check out while we explored the area. The rooms and property were cozy and less than a 10min walk to Lulworth Cove!! Would highly recommend.
