It's a very simple bunkhouse that does the job for a good night's sleep. I think the bathrooms must have been updated in the last year or so because they were absolutely fine, no issues with shower temperature and very little mould. We had the whole place to ourselves, which was a bonus, and I can imagine that if it was fully booked then it'd be pretty crowded but as long as you're content to have just eat and go to bed then it's does the job. Helen was very nice too. Only real downside was that one of the heaters creaked so loudly as it heated up and the metal expanded/retracted that we had to turn it off.

Contacted the West Highland Sleeper to enquire about single occupancy for one of their rooms. It states on their website to enquire about a price for single occupancy. The reply was shocking and started with (I suggest you), which was very rude. I am a soldier doing the West Highland Way. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. Their attitude would certainly reflect the accommodation and service. 3.8 out of 5 reflects that in their reviews.

Cool hostel, feels safe, located between train rails (might be hard to find) right on the west Highland way, rather clean bathroom, homey atmosphere and the best part: a great honesty shop stacked with backpacking essentials (especially food). The bunkroom is basic (beds are OK, hard to climb) and you have to put linen on and off yourself (no problem.)
