This is billed as a 3 star site. That is frankly laughable. The pitches are tiny, difficult to get in to and not overly level. The toilet facilities require much to be desired (and that’s being kind), the local long stay residents are noisy as is the on site bar. It’s next to a farm of braying donkeys and barking dogs. There’s not much in the nearby village either to make amends. It’s also over priced. The only redeeming feature is the helpful guy on reception!

Really clean camping, staff are friendly and helpful, the paella was unreal and i recommend it. Staff gave good local knowledge about the river and walks locally. Will definitely go back.

We really enjoyed this campground. The plots are a decent size and have hedges for privacy, although some appeared to have slight slopes. We chose a plot close to the fence of the field next door - and were immediately visited by two lovely donkeys (we bought a lot of apples over the next few days, 😂). There is also a small group of cats in the camp - if you feed one expect to be visited regularly by six! We're animal lovers so we didn't mind and ended up buying cat food in town. The campground has a bar/restaurant which is popular with the locals, and serves very good tapas (as well as full meals), and the usual typical Spanish breakfast, and the staff are very friendly. The staff at reception were also all really nice, and gave great advice on hiking in the area. The start of the hiking trail along the river begins very close to the campsite which is great, and town is only about a 20 minute walk. We really enjoyed both Jimena and the campground and will be back in the spring. Just a side note, there are a lot of permanent caravans in the campground, so I imagine the weekends can get quite busy with folks from Gib and Malaga, but midweek it was pleasantly quiet.
