The Esplanade Hotel Paignton by Compass Hospitality

Had a very nice stay recently. Location is brilliant, staff very friendly and there is free live entertainment. We chose this place due to the winter sale and the fact that dogs stay free September 2025 to April 2026. This is an amazing deal, which I wish all hotels adopted in the off season! Would stay here again just because of this. Without the deal, the rooms are still very affordable. The rooms are very nice, beds super comfy and we received a free room upgrade to a sea view room! Each bed had 2 pillows and a cushion, which is good as I'm used to having to ask for extra pillows. The bathroom was very clean with a large shower stall and plenty of towels. The whole place is very dog friendly, we felt comfortable having our 2 dogs here. They kindly allowed us to use the microwave in the dinner hall before dinner, so we could have a hot meal. The only minor issues we had was that the room was a bit hot for us overnight even with heating off and windows open, plus when we asked about the free late check out, as advertised on their website, we were told it'd be £10. However those are minor issues and do not outweigh the positives - would stay again. I was going to give 4 stars due to this but the dogs stay free deal outweighs everything else for me so I chose 5*! This offer would influence me more than anything else, apart from overall cost, when picking a hotel in the area again.

We had a one night stay in Feb ‘26 for a music event. Hotel is in a fantastic location and we had a very comfortable stay. Staff were great, especially Zoe who couldn’t do enough for us, including organising our food requirements (vegan) for both dinner and breakfast. Function room was perfect for the event and again the staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Restaurant was well presented with plenty of options for breakfast. We will be returning guests!!

We booked this hotel last minute as we wanted to get away for new year's eve. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. We came with our two dogs which for us was most important . The hotel and our room was clean and well presented. We had breakfast and evening meal and most say the food was wonderful We will definitely be booking again. Thank you to all that made our stay delightful. Highly recommend this hotel
