Hôtel Gabriel - Hôtel Mont Saint Michel

Pros: Location to Mont Saint-Michel with bus running outside front door. Restaurants close by. Walking path and sitting area close by. Cons: hotel felt more like a military barracks. Room was dated and very small but functional for a one night stay. No elevators if you have mobility concerns.

This hotel is very basic, but fulfilled most of our needs for the purpose of the trip. The only issue we would have is you can not get a cup of coffee on site without buying the full continental breakfast, which they required us to tell them in advance. They also had no water, no vending machines with water and all stores close very early ~ it would have been great if they could have kept the welcome water station open 24hrs or advised us that everything closes early and grabbing a few waters would be a good idea. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars for the room because there were a lot of spiderwebs, mosquitoes in our room and the carpet was a bit suspect, but overall clean, great location and I would have paid for a coffee since they had a self service machine ~ but you could only use it is you purchased the continental breakfast.

Friendly staff, good breakfast (extra payment) with plenty of choice. Great position with shuttle bus stop right outside or a walk across the causeway if you want. Parking code provided to get you into the restricted area, pay 10 euros on exit. Rooms on the small side, don't take big suitcases! But as you are only here for a night, survivable. Grab an early breakfast and head over to Mont St Michel before the big crowds arrive.
