Albergue Usandi

This hostel is amazing. If you are going here and booking this you know it is in the countryside, and as such the location is amazing in a tiny village way up in the hills. The internet is astounding, ~500 megabit fiber, so if you want to do some work here that is a huge plus. The entire building is beautiful, almost too nice for a hostel. The hosts were charming and helpful. We rented an entire room for our family and it was perfect. Dinner was very good, they prepared it at a moment's notice even though I think we should have requested it in advance. There are a lot of common areas with comfy sofas and such to just hang out.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience here on my pilgrimage. I had a reservation via WhatsApp. The owner approved the reservation with a message. When I arrived, he said there’s no reservation… He clearly tried to dodge the situation because he had given away my bed in favor to make it working for a bigger group. I showed him his own message. He said I have to move on and search for another place. I then asked him if I can sleep on a couch as I was very exhausted. He said okay after a few sentences, but wanted to have 10€ for this couch (a normal room / bed was 15€). Not a Camino vibe. Other people also said that the owner wasn’t that friendly / good to reach.

Lovely Hobbit style hostel. Room excellent, clean, great location, good night's sleep.
