Albergue de peregrinos de Lezama

I came here from Gernika, during my 6th day of the Camino del Norte last 24 June 2022. The albergue is very spacious with own kitchen and dining room. The hospitalera was very nice. She said, I was the first from my country to register here as a boarder. I am from Filipinas.

A municipal hostel without fame or glory. It's a bit questionable that a single open space includes beds, a large table, and a kitchen. The difference is made by Marisol, the volunteer who welcomes pilgrims, who is extremely kind and friendly.

We were very comfortable, truly like we were at home. Pili, the hospitaler, was very kind and gave us all sorts of information. The only thing they could do is a little maintenance. In the showers, only one was working, and it leaked water under the door, flooding the whole bathroom (the women's shower also filled with water). The doorknob on the men's bathroom door was broken, and there was a towel propped up against the door to keep it from closing. These things need to be addressed; they're minor details. Regarding cleanliness... it could be managed better. The floor was quite dirty, and they wouldn't let us in until 3:00 PM (we arrived at 11:00 AM). In those four hours, I think they could have at least swept. Everything else was fine. There's a microwave and a washing machine; there's no dryer, but there are clotheslines outside. There are several shops nearby and a couple of bars for eating.
