Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting. Rooms spacious, clean and tidy. Very isolated if you choose not to eat at the hotel however the views make up for it and ideal if you’re content to spend your time in the hotel or walking. Staff were well presented and looked after you. Breakfast was excellent! Would definitely return as our weather was really poor so unable to make the most of the hotel and surrounding area.

We stayed at the Haweswater Hotel recently, and honestly, it felt like stepping straight back in time in the best possible way. The whole place has this amazing early 1900’s charm, every corner has something interesting to look at. They’ve kept all these lovely little details, like an old cash register, vintage phones, and even those puff-style perfume bottles in the bathrooms. It just gives the place so much character. Our room had a lake view, and waking up to that scenery was something else. We opened the wooden shutters in the morning and just stood there taking it all in. The room was really spacious and spotless, with tea and coffee bits ready to go, and it was kept nicely warm, which was perfect on a cold November evening. In the evening, we had a couple of drinks in the bar before heading out for food. There was an open fire crackling away, which added such a cosy bit of warmth, and the drinks selection was great too. Breakfast the next morning was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were more than happy to add a few extras for us. The breakfast area itself was really picturesque, and the views from the windows were absolutely breathtaking. We could see the mountains while we ate, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, it was such a cosy, memorable stay. If you love beautiful views and a hotel with real personality, we’d definitely recommend it.

Really lovely stay at Haweswater. We stayed in the garden room, which I would recommend as it’s got its own private entrance through to the gardens. Huge bed, bath and a shower and a separate sitting room which was lovely and cosy. We ate at the hotel for one of the evenings we stayed. Couldn’t fault the food at all, it was absolutely gorgeous and the service was brilliant. Both guys on service were super friendly and attentive. It is expensive though, so great for a special meal but we decided to find a local pub for our second meal for something a bit more hearty (and cheaper) for our post hike dinner. Breakfast was great both mornings, lots of options and served really quickly. Really enjoyed the location, it’s super remote which we loved. Drove to the end of the road and hiked up the local wainwrights, great to have that on your doorstep. Overall, really lovely stay. My only 1 gripe was that our room wasn’t serviced during our stay. Apparently we needed to ask but for the price of the rooms I would have at least expected a top up of the coffee station and bed made etc.
