Very beautiful place to spend the night. The area was clean and well looked after. It was very peaceful with nothing but the sound of the water (and rain at night)with picturesque views. 2 very friendly rangers checked in with us for permits but also chatted for a bit about our stay which made us feel more at ease as we were new to wild camping. Will definitely book up and go back to soak in the views again.

Generally, it is a good, sheltered place to pitch your tent. It can be complicated to find a suitable spot though, with the many tree roots and rocks in the ground. Friendly reminder that it may be more of a hassle to pitch your tent than you bargained for after a long hike. The views on the lake are fantastic, and if the water is warm enough, the gravel beach provides an excellent place for swimming.

Nice remote wild camping site. Not reachable by car so you will need to find parking in the village Rowadennan just north of the campsite then hike 15-20 mins to the site through the forest. Camping is mostly on pebble beaches so air mattresses are advisable unless you want old man back in the morning.
