Public camping at Irbe mouth

Beautiful place by the river as well as the Baltic sea. Quite a lot of people during the summer. We were lucky to find a campsite by the river where there weren't a lot of people around at that time. Overall, our experience was superb, though the high winds caused us some discomfort.

We wanted to stay here for a night, however the road to the campsite was too risky for our camper. We explored it on foot. The spot itself is fantastic and scenic! Here the river flows into the sea. Saw a group of horse riders and kayaks. We had an exciting experience finding the shallow to pass the river to get to the other side where the seaside is. The deepest point reached well above the knees. It was a bit scary when you do not see the ground beneath. Keep in mind that the sandy area beyond the river is a Nature Reserve which is forbidden to enter from April 1 to August 1. (That was written on an information table). The accessible beach is on the right and there is no need to cross the river.

Super place. A bit crowded during summer, but it has really nice atmosphere and beautiful nature in all seasons. Must-visit place for people who like nature and sea. There are places for bonfires and also picnic tables, garbage bins (although you should still take any trash with you when you leave) and dry toilets.
