Ah, les Hauts de la Houle — a charming place nestled in peaceful Cancale, where the air and oysters are fresh, but the customer service is... well, let’s talk about that. We were greeted (if you can call it that) at the reception of Les Hauts de la Houle by a man who radiated the warmth of a baguette left out in the rain. A classic grumpy Frenchman, that looked like he lost a duel to a French cheese wheel earlier that day and hadn’t emotionally recovered yet. Asking him a question felt like interrupting a grumpy moody philosopher mid-existential crisis. When I attempted to check into the accommodation, I was simply asked for a number with 69, ilI looked quickly at our travel vouchers, and found no such number. When I gave my last name an envelope with our keys were easily found, but French bureacracy required the answer to the rest of the number with 69. When I said that I still had found no such number in our papers, I was met with a stare so intense I momentarily questioned all my life choices. I'm pretty sure I left my body for a few seconds. Was I being scolded or seduced? Was he being silly? Was it some form of French humour that I clearly do not understand? Unclear... But either way, the envelope with our keys were quickly returned to the box. Stating during this move that you would also not get on a train without a ticket. Well to be honest, I would probably have an existential crisis if I would try to board a train with a holiday voucher. A remark by my wife that the customer service we were receiving was far beyond our expectations, and a more helpful attitude would be very nice, was met by a remark which i could only describe as an intense combination of English vocabulary, with French grammar. I understood what he said, but he clearly had no intentions to help us any further, and decided to go to the office in the back, muttering something in French, shortly to return to French speaking customers who he obviously adored very much, ignoring us in the process. Thankfully, salvation came in the form of his female colleague (whom spoke flawless English 🏴) — a delightful woman who could melt butter with her smile and possibly broker peace treaties between 2 hostile nations with it. Friendly, helpful, and possibly a hostage of the universe's cruel sense of comedic balance, she singlehandedly saved the experience from spiraling into "French Noir: The Vacation Chronicles.", without ever getting the answer to what comes after 69.. Simply Amazing! In summary: Come for the seaside view from the park and the fresh oysters from the harbour, but emotionally prepare for a man who believes smiling, and being friendly to tourists from another country (whom are spending an arm and a leg on their holiday) is a form of weakness. Would I go back? Yes — but next time, I’m bringing a bottle of wine and a therapist. 🍷🦪

Everything was almost perfect: apartment, facilities, service, swimming pool & sauna, parking and not forgetting the quiet location and proximity to the city center (10-12 minutes). The price-performance ratio is very good. Highly recommended!

+Good place to discover Concale, St Malo, Dinard,… +Cosy, not too much people +pool was heated +price/quality is ok -lady at the desk was unnecessary arrogant. Don’t feel better than you are, people are going on a holiday, make them have a good time -houses are rather small, book a bigger one -Jacuzzi goes off for a long time after 30min -wifi is extra (which year are we?) -you get the bare minimum amount of towels -no starter package, even only one roll of toilet paper. -checkin only at 16h and checkout at 10h Fine place to discover the neighborhood, with some tweaking, this place could really be worth it
