We have just come away from a fabulous couple of nights stay at The Grosvenor. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we had to leave, the hotel staff were amazing. We managed to check in early, and we're allocated room 33. A lovely bay fronted room at the front of the hotel. The room was spotless, very generous in size and lovely high ceilings. The bathroom was spacious and recently renovated so was gorgeous. Lovely soft white towels too! Our bed was very comfy, spotless white bedding and perfect pillows. On the second night, we wanted to have a takeaway in the room, so we asked if that was possible and of course the owners immediately said yes!! They offered us crockery and cutlery which was a lovely thing!! We felt very well looked after and had the perfect relaxing break! Thank you! We most definitely will be back. Nick

We have just had the most phenomenal stay at The Grosvenor Hotel and would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff for being very friendly and making us feel most welcome. We tend to travel a fair bit throughout the year having a couple of nights away here and there so having a hotel that feels fresh and spacious just as The Grosvenor is is appreciated. More importantly Room 33 which we were allocated was spotless, comfortable and very pleasant. We only stayed for two nights however the bed was very comfortable and each night we slept well. The shower is powerful and there seems an endless supply of hot water. In addition to this we were offered a parking space to the rear of the hotel which was invaluable to our stay. Location wise, having the lighthouse and The Hoe at the top of the road was ideal. The Barbican is a mere 10 minute walk from the hotel which is where we spent our time enjoying countless bars and great places to eat. We found multiple staff members pleasant and helpful and we just wanted to say a massive thank you and to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Undoubtedly we would stay here again.

So we arrived off the Brittany ferry. We docked at eight and had said our booking in time would be sometime after that between 8 and 9. There were two messages asking what time we intended to book in we couldn't answer as on the boat there was no mobile signal. In order to make our booking time we rushed as quickly as possible to the hotel getting there around 9 pm. 1. No parking available - we were asked if we wanted a council concessionary leaflet for parking that would cost £10 to which we said yes in the absence of any parking at the hotel They didn't have any council leaflets. Our only option was street parking outside. So we had to faff about downloading an app from a site that was worse than terrible loading. 1 hour (and more) later after download registering and paying, we were legally parked for a princely sum of £16.50 not the best 16.50 I have spent in my days. Evening meals in the hotel were non existent. So we had to eat out. Moving the car would mean we would likely lose our space and no doubt our £16.50 so we had to walk into town to get some food. (Plymouth night life not to be recommended when your 66 years old believe me). Arriving back at the hotel and ready for a much needed bath - it took over an hour to fill, honestly the water literally dribbled in. No reception to report to. Eventually, fed, bathed and ready for bed we settled in to what turned out to be a tropical hot house of a room where windows wouldn't open and turning radiators down was an impossibility Not our best night...... Then to top it all, at 07.30 am we put the news on the TV. Room 7 occupant banged on wall shouting something we couldn't make out. The banging and incoherent shouting continued until 8 am when someone knocked on the door. The woman was in an awful state, I don't know why or whether it was the worse for wear from drugs or alcohol, I really don't know but she looked exceptionally rough and sounded. Turn the TV down I need my extra 2 hours she was quite forceful with her request. Had she not banged on my wall shouting through the wall like a lunatic for 30 minutes I might have accommodated her but in this case I felt the TV wasn't loud and told her to complain to reception. 10 minutes later a receptionist knocked my door.(all this time I am in my under clothes) Can you turn the TV down it's not your fault the walls are very thin. She was right it isn't my fault the walls were so thin and I invited her in to see the TV that was giving volume at 29 and was quite reasonably set to listen to the news. She declined my offer to see for herself. I turned the TV off showered got dressed had my breakfast which I must say was served professionally and very nice.(About the only good thing about the whole place to be honest). On checking out I offered to discuss my issues with the reception she advised I write my review online. Well this is it. I haven't mentioned the fact that that bathroom floor was so sticky and full of dust that the bath mat stuck to the floor or the fact that the toilet roll holder was loose on the wall because a wrallplug had been used the fix it to the plaster board. In the manner of the TV programme 4 in a Bed - would I stay here again NO!
