Delicious food, well furnished and location spectacular - staying in an old fort quite unique! Delightful hosts who couldn't do enough to help us - took us 5km in the morning down the valley to start our next stage of walking and provided an early breakfast which we requested

Le Vieux Quartier is a quaint hotel, with an absolutely superb restaurant. Located in a charming old army barracks surrounded by mountains, it is a perfect stop over for hikers, skiers, or anybody who wants to enjoy the magnificent talents of the chef and his wife. The rooms are simple but offer all necessary comforts. The restaurant however, offered some absolutely amazing food. We enjoyed the seasonal 4-course menu, which was simply packed with flavour. Chef Fabrizio has a simple philosophy: local fresh produce leads his thinking. But do not be fooled: his creativity is anything but simple. Although inspired by tradition, he gives a clear signature twist to his dishes, making it worthwhile for any foody to change their travel schedule and reserve a table. Highlights included the risotto with venison and blueberry, or the semifreddo which a.o. used leftover chestnut bread. Ecological, pure, honest, and masterfully crafted, this menu is sure to make you smile from ear to ear. The couple also excels in hospitality, I have seldom met hotel owners who were this helpful. As we were dealing with a slight injury in our group, we needed some transport in the remote valley. It was quickly arranged at a fair price, allowing us to continue our day with glee. Dear mr.
