If passing through Gavernie, I highly recommend Gite Oxygène. Christophe (owner) came out into the nighttime rain as my son and I were looking for a place to pitch behind his building to get warm (campground was full, as were two hotels). He offered us a room, made tea, and was a delight for the next 36 hours until we left. Thank you, Christophe!

Highly recommended!! Christophe, the owner, is an exceptional guy - good hearted, friendly, honest and helpful. He loves hosting travelers and offered us great help and advice. He speaks French, English and Spanish (and maybe more languages). The place is very clean and organized, very close to the center of the small village.

ONE STAR BECAUSE I CAN´T GIVE -5. This has been the most horrible, rude and frustrating interaction with a hostel of my life. Christophe, the guy in charge has refused to help me to book a room after several emails and calls, as incredible as it sounds. Their website doesn´t work properly and he simply doesn´t care. In his own words: " I open and close the hostel whenever I want, and I reply whenever I please, I am french and free and I could reply to you in your language but I won´t because I don´t feel like it". Excuse me you are not french and free, you are the most rude, arrogant and unprofessional person I´ve ever dealt with. You are not trustworthy, your hostal is not trustworthy. If you are running a hostel, you are obligued to do it profesionally, travelers can´t be depending on "if you feel like it or not", IT IS YOUR JOB, if you don´t like it, just quit it. HORRIBLE experience, thank god I didn´t book my stay here. If you are looking for something serious that takes care of their customers and won´t ruin your trip because he doesn´t feel like working, go somewhere else.
