Hotel Sant'Orso - Mountain Lodge & Spa

We stayed for 3 nights in February, re-visitibg Cogne after 10 years. It was a beautiful stay. Despite being on the older side of the hotel, the rooms were still practical, clean and well appointed. The staff were all friendly and the restaurant food was beautiful. We had the pleasure of meeting Renata (hotel owner) on our second night. She was so kind and generous to us, returning the next night to gift us some books on the hotel and region. She went out of her way to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

Following four evening meals at the hotel, I found it to be beautifully maintained, with excellent décor and a strong sense of traditional values. That said, it is not well suited to vegans or guests with food intolerances. Butter and milk feature heavily in the cooking, and there appears to be little scope to adapt recipes or preparation methods. As a traditional family hotel, it may not align with the expectations of modern travellers who require dietary flexibility. Guests on prepaid half-board packages should be aware that assurances from travel agents about dietary accommodation may not reflect the reality on site. Other members of my group greatly enjoyed their meals, and this review is not a criticism of the food quality, but rather an informative note for those with specific dietary needs.

Nice view and friendly staff. Rooms and spa are quite small - much smaller than visible from photos online. The chemicals in the pool are so strong you can smell them throughout the hotel and in when inside the bubble bath your eyes will burn. Open air bubble bath is better. In my room I found hairs on the wall of the shower which staff did not remove despite my complaints. The walls are very thin - I could hear my neighbors conversations quite well. Breakfast was ample and tasty.
