Hotel Restaurant zur Sonne

The hotel seems like an appendix to the restaurant. The entrance to the hotel is on the back of the restaurant and one time we've got locked outside. The rooms are quite big however. The breakfast is limited by the quantity.

Warning: Extremely salty food, unfriendly service. I am completely dissatisfied. We ate here for my grandmother's birthday, and we were all outraged. The food was inedible simply because it was so salty, and I can assure you that I salt my own food very heavily and still couldn't eat it. The only thing that wasn't salty were the fries. When my grandmother received a regular Coke even though she had ordered a Zero, I went to the bar and politely pointed out the mistake. The man behind the counter looked at me with almost disgust and then snapped at me for already giving her one. Luckily, the server pointed out that it was her, and he then gave me a new one without a word. I thought it might just be a bad day, but I then heard from others that they had the same experience. I hope the restaurant recognizes this and works on improving.

In August 2025, I visited the restaurant in the outdoor seating area at the back of the building while on vacation. There were already about 18 other guests enjoying the beautiful summer weather, seemingly many of them locals. Presumably, this apparently very popular restaurant thrives on its regular customers. As a solo diner, I was immediately seated and given a menu by the attentive and very friendly staff. The selection is typical for a place like this, and the prices are comparatively low to very low. My drink (a shandy) arrived almost instantly, and the large side salad came just a few minutes later. The size of the food portion, which arrived a little later, was truly impressive—too large for an older gentleman like myself. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. And please come with a big appetite and a big thirst!
