Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre

I've been here many times with the Army, and always thought it was a beautiful location. More recently I decided to bring the Leeds Rhino's Womens team up for a weekend of team bonding. It was fantastic. El, Walter and the family was brilliant, they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was facilitated and comfortable. The facilities are great, you wouldn't think it was a hostel. The location is incredible, the views are breath taking and no pictures will ever do it justice, you have to go to see with your own eyes!

April review; What a place and location!!! fantastic place, people, weather in nature!!! Very remote but its what is needed! Great walking and running route/flat and hills with beautiful gardens. I will be back with the family! Ducks, cats, dogs, chickens and geese on the grounds so its great for children too! My daughter cannot wait to get there! Been meaning to stay at the place for a long time! and now have done! Peace.Nature and had the weather for a 3 night stay! Superb! Only a few people around so had the place to myself pretty much! Take your own food as closest shop (its a great thing) is 30/40min nice drive away! Restricted wifi (but works well) and thats what is needed in this incredible place! * I had the small 4 person room and its not got powersocket so worth taking an extension lead (if needed). Showers great powerful and hot! highly recommended! Thanks to the LGW team! Ps a great cheap stay and I have become a member!!! so save more when booking for later on!!! Great people, place and service!

Substantially further along the gated access road than the public parking at Bowness Knott, LGFC is ideally situated for easy access to the high fells and crags surrounding wild Ennerdale. Off-grid and based around a 200-year old farmhouse that has many original adornments and tales to tell, LGFC provides cosy hostel-style accommodation suitable for large groups of outdoor enthusiasts. The warden goes out of her way to support visitors.
