I meet owner on road, when I needed ride to another city (ferry was on strike). He offered me ride, when he didn't need to (I was waiting for bus). It takes a special kind of person, to be so nice to others. This give you better guarantee of best hotel stay, that usual opinions from paying guests.

In the end it's all good, because we are a very relaxed couple and dont want to spend holidays argueing, but... the owner has two buildings, what you see in the pictures is the main house. IF he doesn't have place, he will put you in another one, older and during renovation. The room and kitchen was ok, but the bathroom is really from another century. ;) So if you expect to get what you see in the pictures, be sure in which house you are going to stay. The thing is we were sure that we will stay in this house you see in the pictures the owner didnt say about the other house you cant see in the offer. I dont know if the price is higher in the better house. Breakfast is good but ... we had to wait around 1 hour because other guest from the second house came to our kitchen :( that was annoying and this delayed our journey home. So if you are in a rush say directly that you dont want to wait. Once again, we ha dno information about the wainting for breakfast because someone else took our place. In the end - owner is nice and location is great. Be sure you will communicat stict with the owner.

Summary: Incredible hospitality. Long version: After a long day of hiking, we arrived in Schmilka on foot, and were unable to find a bed anywhere, and also without any cash. Nobody we encountered in town would accept a credit or debit card for food or lodging. As the feeling of being screwed was settling upon us, Gernot approached us on the street, and asked if we needed some help. He brought us in to his cute B&B, and told us not to worry, and just send the payment via bank transfer when we get somewhere with internet the next day. What a great guy!
