Ushguli, Georgia
Ushguli, Georgiasimon maranda
We stayed at the guesthouse in Ushguli during the winter of 2024 as a group of five on a ski touring trip, and although some time has passed, we still look back on this experience as one of the highlights of our journey. The hospitality we received was exceptional. The entire family was warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring, making us feel more like guests of honor than travelers passing through. The apartment was spotless and comfortable, offering everything we needed after long days in the mountains. The food deserves its own paragraph — it was without doubt the best we enjoyed in the whole of Georgia. Fresh, traditional, homemade dishes served with incredible generosity truly made our stay special. Experiencing authentic Georgian family life and traditional singing in the evenings was unforgettable. Communication was effortless, as Angelina speaks perfect English and ensured everything was smoothly organized and perfectly arranged for our needs. For anyone visiting Ushguli — especially adventurers and ski touring groups — we can highly and wholeheartedly recommend staying here. It was an experience we will always treasure. Warm regards from Switzerland!

The guesthouse isn’t brand new, but it’s full of history and charm. The family is local and knows everything about the village—it was wonderful talking with them. Their homemade meals are absolutely delicious! The hospitality was excellent, and the view from the outdoor area is simply breathtaking. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone who wants to fully immerse themselves in Ushguli! I really enjoyed my stay here. A big thank you to Angelina and her family ❤️

We came here because of the great reviews. While the hosts were extremely kind and friendly, the reality is that the place is VERY old and was not worth it. The room was pretty dirty. Walls were paper thin. The shower pressure was very weak to the point it was hard to take a shower. Sink did not have soap and did not have cold water so we got burned trying to brush our teeth or wash hands. For dinner each person only received a third of a Kubdari which is very little meat. While some of this is expected (being an old place), it was the most expensive place (100 gel per person including dinner and breakfast) we stayed on during the Mestia - Ushguli trek and we really felt ripped off for the price. I’m only giving this place 3 stars and not 2 because the owners were so nice and had very cute dogs.
