Welcome to the MEAT RAFFLE. None of your fancy stuff. Just meat with friends and relax.

When we arrived and walked up the stairs I was a bit worried at the state of the paintwork and the carpets plus the stale smell everywhere, despite the presence of plugin air fresheners in the stairwell. There is no reception, we were shown to our room on the top floor. All the carpets along the way were worn, marked and stained. I had parked on yellow lines outside so left to park the car. When I came back and looked at the room I was appalled at the decrepit state it was in. The wardrobe would not have made it to a charity shop. Missing trim on the doors so exposed chipboard and it was chipped and marked. The room had a bad stale smell even with the window open, one bedside light did not work and the shade was just balanced on the fitting. There was a brown stained and rusty electric heater in the room, no central heating. The door to the shower /toilet was wood and had a build-up of dust on the recesses on both sides. Toilet and handbasin were of clean appearance but all around was more dust. In the shower cubical the black mould was rife, on the tiles, grouting and in the corners. There was only a dribble of water in the handbasin cold tap which actually stopped when you turned it on full. Plug chain was broken and not connected. We paid more to have a premium room, £ 75! For that money, on the same night, we could have booked a room for two at the Imperial Hotel Torquay. For £30 a night we would have looked the other way and said OK its cheap but at £75 it was a ripoff. This venue is more backpacker quality and should be marketed as such. I know the owners say they are in the process of refurbishing, and that is fine. But there is no excuse for dirtiness and this place was dirty and run-down. There are no photos on your site of the establishment and if there had been we would not have stayed. We therefore enclose some photos for you to see and would like to request our money back. Dirty, slovenly, definitely not worth the price.

Paid this business for 4 nights and no one was there to let us in. I tried to cancel later and booking.com would not give me a refund. My elderly relative needed some work done and I booked myself and two friends who are builders into Roundel. When we arrived one of the other guests wouldn't let us in. We tried to phone the number on the door several times but no one answered so we drove back to London after having gotten up at 4am to drive down. When I got a hold of the manager to cancel he was rude saying we had come before the given check in time of 7-8pm, which we hadn't and that we hadn't tried to phone, which we had. I phoned booking.com and asked if something could be sorted out so at least I didn't have to pay for the second night and send a photo of the phone calls made but the owner has refused to refund.
