Nice lunch in the heart of Oberlech. Inside are lovely wooden panelled rooms with nice guitar music wafting through the dining rooms. We opted for the burger, which we all agreed was fantastic and unique. Pulled beef on brioche with truffle mayonnaise.

The location is excellent. Sadly, that’s where the positives end. We paid around €1,000 per night for a very basic, dated room. It did not feel remotely in line with the rate being charged. We regularly stay in hotels in the €500–€1,000 range and are more than happy to pay for quality and service. This was neither. The service was particularly disappointing. On departure, I asked five separate times to confirm that our luggage would be sent down on the gondola. Each time I was made to feel unreasonable for asking — the woman at reception looked at me as if I were being difficult. When we reached the bottom, unsurprisingly, there was no luggage. When I called the hotel, the response was abrupt and unapologetic. The gondola staff told us this happens frequently and that the hotel team often fail to ensure bags are actually placed on the lift. That is simply not acceptable at any level, let alone at €1,000 per night. Breakfast was limited and underwhelming. The overall atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. A beautiful setting alone is not enough. Service, care and basic competence matter — and here, they were missing.

We were here for lunch. The panorama terrace is very cozy and striking, views of the slopes are good. This makes for a lunch where you can sit for hours jn the sun enjoying life. The food itself is of high quality, and it’s all clearly freshly produced. I must say prices are very high, although you can probably expect that for a restaurant like this in Oberlech.
