Beautiful hotel, super friendly staff, couldnt help us more if they tried, with a spare key (two sharing a family room) and accommodated the dog without hesitation even though they weren't aware he was joining us (booking .com) our room is beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable, its a short distance from the hoe and the city centre so perfect for exploring, the building is historical, its worth asking the reception staff about it! We will be happy to return! Room number 5 😀

I was holding off writing a review to give the management an opportunity to respond to my numerous attempts to receive even a partial refund. Arrived for a two night stay, we booked based on the Google reviews. I can only think the reviewers don't stay in many other hotels, hence the high scores. All you want from a hotel is a clean, comfortable and serviceable room. We got a smelly, unclean room, with mould on the window frame, a broken mirror, and some very suspect stains. Immediately left after checking in, explaining very politely that we would not be staying due to the state of the room. They happily kept our money anyway. Booked in to the Moxy down the road, smashing hotel with clean rooms and a 24 hour bar, for £5 a night more. I'm sure people have an adequate stay at the Imperial, and I know the damage that negative reviews do to businesses. Just clean your rooms, repair the broken fixtures and fittings, and run your hotel like you would want to find it. My advice, don't bother.

The only thing going for our stay was the bathroom. At least it was very clean and the shower worked well. Other than that I have to say it must be one of the worst places I have ever paid to stay in. We had to amend our original booking to allow us to bring our dog. We were advised that there would be a charge but we would also get an upgrade. Well our room was in the carpark. Sadly neglected with wall paper peeling off the walls. Stains on the walls and the most depressing of colours/ stripes and pictures. A distinctly suspect black hair on one of the pillowcases. The room had clearly not been inspected by any management in many moons. Breakfast was included but on arriving into, what could only be described as the most depressing of depressive rooms and taking a look what was on offer, we made a quick escape. This establishment needs more than the hotel inspector. Would be more fitting to let the rooms for those seeking asylum. Car park charge of £20 a night and £10 for dog.
