Abisko Guesthouse

Overall, Abisko Guesthouse is a decent place to stay, but if I were to return, my first choice would be Abisko Mountain Lodge. One important consideration: the Mountain Lodge houses the only full restaurant in the village. Walking there in heavy snow — especially with kids — can feel like a real trek. So location does matter. The guesthouse itself has very unique rooms — no two are the same. However, we did notice a few bugs in our first cabin. Also, they do not provide shampoo or body wash, which was surprising for us as international travelers who didn’t pack those items. They are extremely strict about the 11:00 AM checkout time. We had to switch rooms due to reservation arrangements, and they required us to check out at 11 and return at 3 PM. It was snowing, the village has a population of around 140 people, and we were traveling with two young kids — there’s simply not much to do in between. We were told to use the communal bunk-bed area, which made the experience feel more hostel-like. On the positive side, it’s very close to the only supermarket in town, which is convenient. A solid option — just go in knowing what to expect.

We had a good time at the Guedthouse. Location is great and the stuff super friendly. Unfortunately it was not super clean, but also because kitchen and toilets are shared. Room was clean, just no window, which was ok because we only stayed two nights. Would recommend for a short stay. Even if price is a bit high for what you get. That is also why we didn't afford to book a tour with them. It seemed quite expensive. But you can still have a great time and walk to Abisko Nationalpark or go and see the Northern Lights at the Lake.

Amazing location!!!! Very clean , with a no outdoor shoes indoors policy (which every hostel should have!) Clean shared/public spaces, friendly staff and cosy, small private rooms. It got a bit noisy late at night as people returned from night time excursions after midnight and the duvets didn't seem to be wide enough for the beds. Other than that though, no complaints.
