This is a nice historic hotel in Inverness. Great location! Right next to train station with grocery stores, restaurants, and shops easily within reach. They do have an elevator but some rooms are off hallways that require stairs, be mindful if needing accessibility. Also, the tub/shower in some rooms is deep, may be difficult to get in for some people. They have a luggage room to use if you get there before check-in.

What a beautiful old hotel. Absolutely worth a stay if you want a heritage experience in a great location. The most important thing to be aware of - when they say limited parking, they mean highly unlikely parking. There’s about 8 bays for about 85 rooms. Plan to park in the public parking about 5 mins away at about £10 day. Our room was huge, with a separate little sitting area. The bed was large and really comfortable. The bathroom appeared to be newly renovated - the shower had amazing pressure and was a joy to use. It’s handy that the windows in the room open, as there’s no air conditioning (which was probably an unrealistic expectation given the weather where we are). There’s good tea and coffee facilities in the room, but no fridge. There is a lift in the hotel The breakfast area is magnificent. I really enjoyed the room. Breakfast was great for me - cold meats, cheeses, pastry and breads. The breakfast is confusing though - if you want a hot breakfast, you appear to have to pay extra for it. Our booking had breakfast included, but not the hot meal. Service is very poor. Reasonably unhelpful reception. No service at breakfast - yesterday we watched 2 breakfast staff watching a phone and dancing to music clips whilst the 3rd staff member stared at a wall - and no-one helped the disabled gentleman with a walker carry his food or drinks to his table. Room cleaning also appears to be a unicorn. Our ‘please make up the room’ door sign was ignored 2 days running. When we asked for fresh towels at least, we were told to come to reception and get them ourselves. The towels were good though when we finally got clean ones. There also appears to be a cat in the hotel, as I saw it in the sitting area on 2 different days - on 1 day it was sitting up on the table next to a couple’s afternoon tea tower! It was a surprise to me, but the couple seemed pretty happy about it all. Maybe it was their cat?! Great location, lovely heritage feel, pretty good breakfast. The parking and service wouldn’t stop me returning- just something to be aware of.

We LOVED our stay (and breakfast) here and Fiona made it even more special by helping me with a birthday surprise for my husband. Thank you!!! The room was super clean and spacious for the two of us. I loved the high ceilings and the nearly floor to ceiling windows! The bathroom also was very large and the tub was nice and deep. If you're into historic stays, you MUST put this place on your list. It's oozing with character, yet is maintained to modern standards. Take the time to walk around, look at the art, and absorb the magnitude of the place. Oh, and make sure you get the breakfast! The full Scottish Breakfast was prepared to perfection and there were tons of options out on the continental buffet. The fruit scones were some of the best I had in Scotland. Great location, great food, great staff. Would recommend again and again!
