Hotel Dux

A charming little hotel with a wonderful retro feel (time capsule!) - set in a tranquil, beautiful location and with very helpful and friendly owners who were very accommodating in all senses. The breakfast is also great - would definitely stay again - a perfect little getaway.

This is such a special hotel - a hidden gem that you won’t regret choosing for your stay in Schaan. The hotel is so charming - a beautifully and lovingly preserved historic building, rich with many decades of history. It’s something of a time capsule into decades past - and impeccably maintained, spotlessly clean. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. The organic breakfast of homemade breads and jams, plus fresh and dried fruit, cheese, eggs, yogurt, and muesli, as well as freshly made coffee and tea, is perfect. Some of the jams are even made from fruit grown in their own backyard, and almost every bite of food served is super local. And the views - it is impossible to say enough about the spectacular views. The hotel sits up the hillside overlooking Schaan. The rooms, the breakfast room, and the patio all look down over the city, with snowcapped mountains on all sides and songbirds singing all morning. It is so peaceful and just beautiful. The hosts are so warm and kind. It is walkable from the bus and train station in Schaan - it’s a short walk, but steeply uphill, so those with less mobility might prefer to arrive by car.

This is a great hotel to stay at if you are looking for something “off the beaten path”. I don’t believe that public transit goes this far up the mountain, but once you see the views from here, you’ll realize that it’s worth it. The rates for rooms are very reasonable at ~75$/night, which includes breakfast. The structure is made of concrete, so it’s very quiet. Booking is very simple and done over email. If I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be staying here again.
