Mark Lamthi Bujtinë

Mark's guesthouse is a gem! It's closer to the end of Teth-Valbona hiking trail than most other guest houses despite being a bit hidden/difficult to find. Mark is very kind, supplied us well with a vegetarian dinner (upon request), cold beers and a bottle of his homemade Raki. He even brought us to our bus the next morning. While the dinner is more expensive than most places, it's worth it as you save the hassle to get something from further away.

What a wonderful place! Mark and his family were super sweet and courteous. We payed 37€ per person including a fresh, substantial dinner and breakfast (vegetarian upon request), a huge lunch for our hike and our one night stay. Mark also offered us cold beverages and drove us to the starting point of the hiking trail, both for free. The room was clean and comfortable and the view is absolutely stunning. We loved every second of it!

The place is nice and quiet and we picked it after reading about it in a blog. It's near the beginning of the hike and when I made the reservation on their website I found online the price was 10€ for the night, perfect! When we got there, a local girl brought us there because we couldn't find it. There are no signs and the location on maps isn't correct. But we got there! We got welcomed by a friendly woman, but her daughter on the phone had to translate as she didn't speak English. Which is not a problem, just a little inconvenient. We got asked if we wanted lunch and/or dinner and a lunch package for the next day. We said yes to all as we were hungry after our trip to Valbona, we didn't see any supermarket near and we didn't ask the price as we didn't imagine it could be too expensive (our own fault I admit). In the evening, the owner came with the bill: 20€ pp for the night, 15€ pp for lunch, 15€ pp for dinner and 5€ pp for the lunch package. We were in shock, but nothing we could do. Yes the people are friendly, yes it's near the track, yes the food was very nice, but after paying 110€ we felt scammed.
