Thon Hotel Nidaros

Lovely hotel in the centre of town and close to the train station. Staff, as seems to be the case with the Thon hotels we have stayed in, are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were OK size-wise for a short stay but a bit on the small size for anything longer. We also couldn’t get the TV to work but wasn’t an issue and we reported to reception on check-out. Breakfast was excellent, very varied with so many quality options!! Again, seems to be a common theme amongst Thon hotels!! Never heard of this chain before but would definitely choose Thon hotels again, without a doubt!!! 👍👍👍

I stayed at this hotel for almost a week, and overall it was an okay experience. One annoyance was having to leave the main building and enter a neighboring one to get to my room. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom was extremely small, especially the sink. The shower floor was also dirty from day one, which was disappointing. The rest of the room was comfortable — the bed and pillows were incredibly soft, and the TV was a good size. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily except for one day, when the bed was only half-made, and the shower soap wasn’t replaced. I had to go down to reception myself to ask for more soap, which was quite frustrating. On the positive side, the breakfast was very good, with a lot of variety, and they even served free soup in the evenings on weekdays, which was a great extra touch. The hotel gym was also excellent, with a wide selection of equipment. Overall, a mixed stay — good facilities and comfortable rooms, but the cleaning issues and small inconveniences took away from the experience.

Great location, can easily walk to Nidaros Cathedral and Bybrua Bridge. Close to several restaurants and shops. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was filling and the simple dinner was just the right amount of food.
