Hyperion Hotel Basel

I stayed at the Hyperion Hotel in Basel and came away disappointed, particularly given the price point. The location is a positive. Situated just off Klara, the hotel is well placed for exploring the city, and parking options are generally good if you are travelling by car. I would strongly recommend booking a space directly under the hotel, as this is by far the most convenient option. Unfortunately, the check-in experience was poor. There were not enough staff to manage the volume of guests, resulting in unnecessary delays. Once at the desk, the service was perfunctory—no explanation of the hotel’s facilities, amenities, or even basic orientation on where things are. This made the arrival feel transactional rather than welcoming. The room itself was small. While the bathroom was modern and well finished, the room temperature was uncomfortably high and could not be adjusted. Additionally, there were no tea or coffee-making facilities in the room, which is a notable omission at this price level. Overall, for the money paid, this hotel does not represent good value. That said, it has real potential: the location is strong and the property itself is well maintained. With meaningful investment in staffing levels and customer service, it could be a very good hotel—but in its current form, it falls short.

The hotel started off strange, as we tried to park in the hotel parking directly under the hotel and the guy didn't open the gate for us, and when I called back, he hung up. We eventually parked next door (very expensive), but was fine. The check in was incredibly slow and the guy was super unfriendly. The room had lovely view overlooking actually 3 countries. Strangely, no soap in the room. The walls are super thin and we had a prost!tute next door creating noise all weekend,morning and night. The shower leaked all over the bathroom. They didn't bring us more coffee, so we had to ask at reception. There is a good gym and we went to the rooftop bar which is separate from the hotel. Overall a strange experience and probably would not return as the value was not there.

Amazing. My first time here and I can tell that next time I'll come to Basel I will again book a room in this hotel. My room was awesome, SUPER silent, super clean, well it's an easy 5 star rating to give here.
