Lovely family guesthouse in rural Svaneti. The rooms are small but fairly comfortable with twin beds and a shower/loo. Like other guesthouses, the bathroom is a wet room, with no separation between loo and shower. The mattresses were soft and squeaky and one had a spring poking out of it so in need of replacing but we slept okay. The family is very welcoming and generous. The food was delicious and plentiful, not as oily as in some other places. Lovely big garden to relax in with a cow and a puppy roaming about. As with everywhere in Georgia there are street dogs, and they barked quite a lot in the middle of the night, but that's dogs. Good place for the Mestia to Ushguli trail.

A VERY average stay. After completing the 4 day hike, Maia’s was by far the worst guesthouse we encountered and the most expensive of our 4 days of trekking. We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and the only people staying for the night. Unfortunately, we were kept up till 1am with what seemed to be a party by the owners. The rooms seemed clean but the bathrooms smelled of sewer. The meals were pretty average, and seemed to be an afterthought. When it was time to check out we were charged 450 Lari for dinner, breakfast, and 4 beds! Most expensive for a sub par experience. After complaining the owner dropped the price to 350 Lari - we departed with a bad feeling by the whole experience. If you’re staying in Chvabiani, look elsewhere and avoid Maia’s Guesthouse.
