A Casa Das Augas

There are times on the Camino when it is nice to get away from the path. A Casa Das Augas is a small family run place that provides an amazing break from the Camino. The hotel is just a bit outside Mondenado, we walked the extra distance but they would have been very happy to pick us up at any point on the trail. When we arrived we sat down in comfy chairs next to a bubbling canal and to our delight were served first some bread and cheese and then some patatas. The evening proceeded wonderfully from there. This is a family that absolutely loves sharing their hotel and indeed their town of Mondenado with guests. Monica and Manuel are both engaging and considerate. When we had questions they were there. When we wanted quiet it felt as though we had the place to ourselves. Breakfast the next day was the best we have had while on the Camino with fruit, pastries, toast, an egg, Jamon, fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh yogurt….. We proceeded happily along the trail from there and it was a good thing we were so well fortified, the climb out of Mondenado is a big one.

Excellent location (5 minutes from Mondoñedo, 20 minutes from Rinlo or Playa de las Catedrales). Beautiful natural surroundings (recreational area, trails, and routes). Spectacular accommodation (in a restored mill with a river flowing underneath, featuring a river pool and picnic area, all meticulously maintained and tastefully decorated). Incredible breakfast, varied and very plentiful. But what stands out most is the warm, friendly, attentive, and caring service from the couple who run it; we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Thank you so much for everything! 😊

A place with a special charm! The room and bathroom were very comfortable, spacious, and clean. The lounge where we had breakfast (a breakfast prepared with attention to every detail) was super cozy and beautiful. The house's location is spectacular, surrounded by mountains and water, with incredible common areas to enjoy, especially in good weather. But the best part was the attention we received from Mónica and Manuel from the very first minute! They were very attentive throughout our stay, making sure we had everything we needed! Congratulations to both of you on this beautiful project you've created together, and thank you for everything.
