Kilquiggan Cottages

This was our first two nights of lodging upon our arrival in Ireland and it was the perfect country cottage. Absolutely peaceful and very roomy in the downstairs living room & kitchen. Private outdoor area was available out back for us though we didn’t use it. The beds were comfortable and we slept so well after our jet lag. My tall husband & daughter did fine with the low ceiling ascending the stairs. Took us a few minutes to figure out the shower but it was a great stay.

Needs a deep clean and attention to detail. Lots of cobwebs and spiders. Steep stairs to bedrooms. Shower needs grouting renewed and refreshed. Potential of this place is amazing but needs work. On a positive note, a very comfortable bed.

The area is absolutely gorgeous! Cottage was lovely on the outside and downstairs. Kitchen had everything we needed and fireplace & heating effective and warm. I’m not a fan of those electric showers, so that was not fun, but bathroom was a nice size and loved having a washing machine. Upstairs was very disappointing. Cottage really not made for anyone taller than 1.6 metres. The one bed in the spare room was very uncomfortable, one really cannot sleep on it. The one in the main bedroom was better, but wooden so every turn is noisy. And if you are tall, I have no idea how you fit in it as I hardly did. The fitted sheet did not fit, it was too small, so I hardly had a sheet to sleep on and woke up on the naked mattress every morning. No mattress or pillow protectors. Pillows were old and the towels were older. That was not nice and for that reason I could not wait to leave. New beds, bedding & towels are needed. Thomas was awesome and drove up to bring me plugs and to show me how the stove works, I am very grateful. There was a stray cat that we fed and gave milk to. I asked the host whose cat it was as I was worried about it, but I never got a reply.
