Extremely Disappointing and Uncomfortable Stay – Would Not Recommend Our group of ten spent nearly £1,000 expecting to have an enjoyable weekend together, but instead, we left feeling upset, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. The host’s behavior throughout our stay was shockingly rude and unprofessional. On our first night, we played some music while chatting and relaxing — after all, we were on holiday and simply wanted to enjoy our time together. We admit the music might have been a little loud at some point, but nothing extreme or unreasonable. Instead of speaking to us politely in person, the host called and sent multiple messages demanding that we turn off the music immediately. We respected that and stopped, but the tone of the communication was unnecessarily harsh and made us feel like we were doing something terribly wrong just for having a bit of fun on our holiday. The next morning, around 11 a.m., the host suddenly came over, banged on our door very loudly, and threatened to tear the speaker apart if we dared to play music again — even though it was already late morning. It was an extremely unpleasant and intimidating experience for everyone. Later that same day, the host made a sarcastic comment, saying something like “I hope you won’t play music at night again” in a very rude tone. It made us feel even more disrespected and unwelcome, as if we had committed some terrible offense. We had paid a significant amount of money for this trip, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, but instead, we spent the entire time feeling anxious and restricted. The atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable, and none of us could truly enjoy our stay. Honestly, it also felt like we might have been treated differently because we are Asian guests. We can’t be completely certain, but the way we were spoken to and treated definitely gave us that impression. Regardless, no guests should ever be treated this way. For anyone considering staying here: please think twice. The accommodation itself might look fine, but the host’s rudeness, poor communication, and lack of respect completely ruined our experience. We would absolutely not come back and do not recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable, friendly, or welcoming stay.

Everything in the house is fine but the welcome is not enthusiastic, the houses are close to each other and not independent so there is no privacy or comfort. And you can't listen to music when grilling in the garden or it's too noisy when you're in the house. I had a pretty bad experience staying here.

My family and I have visited a growing number of properties in and around the lakes over the past 7 years. The majority have been more than acceptable and we have found some diamonds in the rough. However on the whole we have been a little disappointed..... Mostly by well photographed snug properties with limited parking and dwindling standards of cleanliness. This year while planning a large family break, we had decided to explore the lesser known western side of the lakes. I hate being sat queuing in traffic and paying extortionate prices rather than getting on with walking and exploring which is the whole reason for the holiday. I discovered the property Thorntrees, Read the reviews and thumbed through the pictures and made the decision to make a booking. Arriving at the property there is a large off road private, gated and stoned car park capable of easily accommodating our 4 cars. As we descended apon the house, spreading out to explore, the property went from strength to strength with all the members of the family coming back and complimenting the amazing warm homely design and feel, the great size and layout of the bedrooms with most having a private onsuite. The cleanliness was second to none. The location was perfect ! Especially for us, allowing us to complete the first section of the coast to coast to walk. Walking from St bees (the start of the coast to coast) right past the front door of thorntrees. We enjoyed every part of our stay here. Bbqs on the private garden, large family roast dinner round the beautiful oak dinning table and a rather large glass of wine snuggled in front of the log burner.. I would say we will be booking again but the truth is we have already booked to come back.
