Truly excellent all round experience! We arrived around midday (check in around 17:00) but were told we could leave luggage etc to go for a quick afternoon ski. The hotel is well maintained and a very nice environment to stay in. There is plenty of space in communal areas even in busy times. The staff have all been friendly, welcoming, and hardworking. The hotel is true ski in ski out, with easy access to 3 lifts in all directions. Note there is a small flight of stairs to get out of the boot room and onto the piste. The boot room is slightly cramped in busy periods however generally wasn’t too much of an issue. The food was mostly excellent with a significant selection on offer. The dishes were different every night and we were kept happy - despite our bar for food being high! The room was slightly worn, but spacious, clean and comfortable. The views out over the pistes were excellent and it’s breathtaking to wake up on a blue sky day. The amenities were great all round, with pool/steam/sauna. There is a bookable rooftop hot tub worth taking advantage of too. Visiting as a young couple without children, the only aspect worth noting when considering this hotel is that there are lots of children/children’s entertainment on in the bar area. This wasn’t an issue for us as it generally added to a good atmosphere, but if you’re wanting a quiet lowkey drink after a day’s skiing this maybe isn’t the place!

Had a really good week here. Tignes/Val d'isere is a really good ski area, loads of variety of slopes and high and snow sure. Val Claret being high is particularly helpful. The hotel location is perfect, access directly from the boot room onto the slope, at the top of Val Claret so there's not much downside to coming back to the hotel for lunch. (But they're happy to help you to take a packed lunch if you wish). Food buffet was decent and plentiful, always 2 or 3 tempting options. Drinks options good and varied. Bar staff helpful, although the queue at the bar can be a bit annoying when you just want a quick beer as so many people order cocktails which take ages to make. Hotel and room decor somewhat dated but perfectly decent and well maintained, comfy enough beds and staff always seemed to be around clearing and cleaning. Nice to have a pool and sauna and steam room on hand after a days skiing. Couple of minor issues with the room safe and boot room locker were sorted out same day by reception staff 👍 Entertainment in the bar area was a bit annoying, loud shouting and games in French so not very inclusive for anyone else and hard to just chill and have a conversation. But can't fault them for energy and effort 😅 Was with adult friends so can't comment on the kids club but it seemed active and decent. All in all I will probably be coming back, great option for a hassle free holiday. Good job!

8th time skiing, 2nd time to Val Claret. Will return to Tignes time and time again but never to the Balambra. Amazed at all the positive reviews, all I can assume is they are written by people with kids which is all this place is suited for and it is FULL OF THEM! Pros - Location - ski in, ski out. Great position right on the piste just above Fresse lift. Cons - Room was a decent size but VERY thin walls so could hear kids running up and down above us. - Housekeeping left a lot to be desired.Tea and water not replenished in bedrooms all week - WiFi kept cutting out. - Swimming pool is tiny and full of kids and sauna wasn't even on. - Hot tub was nice and the only respite from kids but you only get 30 minutes. - Food was mediocre and to say that about french food is saying something. Every time I've been skiing in France the food has been amazing, but apart from the odd decent dish the choices were few and the quality substandard. - Went to breakfast at half 8 and no yoghurt or scrambled eggs left. No tables being cleared. Had to go on the hunt for cutlery. They also somehow managed to position everything on opposite sides of the restaurant, so you get your toast and then walk the other side for the butter. You get your tea and walk the other end for some milk!! - Raclette night was a disappointment.. the charcuterie was a few slices of cheap ham and some salami and you had to go and get your own bread and wine from the buffet section! - 0% beer is chargeable. - Ski lockers are tiny so it's a struggle every evening to squeeze all your gear in and forget leaving your helmets. There's enough for two pairs of boots, skis an poles...just!
