Our stay was okay. Not bad but definitely not what we expected. We stayed two nights (as part of our walk along the Via Francigena) and I would not stay here again. Our room and bed were nice. Dinner was good but not great and it took forever (30+ minutes between 1st and 2nd course) and all our food was warm but not hot. The breakfast had a lot of pastries, store-bought yogurt, some soft apples and not much else - not even eggs or granola (I question the whole zero-kilometer food concept they promote). Overall, we didn’t really feel much warm hospitality- we honestly did not even get a “welcome” when we arrived or a “thank you” when we paid. (Although the young lady who did breakfast was very friendly). If you stay, I would avoid the meal options. As a pilgrim walking the VF, it’s not worth the extra kilometers.

A hidden gem! The road leading to this charming home is down a hidden lane along a stream. On arrival we were greeted by a wam and happy family - husband, his mother, wife, son, 3 adorable little dogs and 2 cats! All so glad to see us and welcome us to their home. A lovely old farmhouse with stone walls and brick ceilings, decorated with all the amenities. delicious breakfast with pastries made on premises. A sweet family exuding true Italian (and Romanian!) hospitality! Thank you all. Audrey & Steve

Incredible! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Il Sentiero is built on part of a 2,000 year old cistern made of Tuffa stone. The son shared his favorite translation app, which I still enjoy. I fell in love with his lively and affectionate mother. Their little dogs, Romeo and Grappa (?), were very sweet, the same for the 4 cats, and 5 geese. It’s a lovely 10 minute walk to Acquapendente. Be sure to visit the Information center/museum for a booklet about the town and an easy-to-use map. What a way to start on the Via Francigena 💜💚💙
