Gaul Gavkhe hotel

The guesthouse looks nice in the pictures, but the stay was very disappointing. The rooms are marked as non smoking, but the owners smoke inside, and the smell spreads into the other rooms. The owner takes no responsibility for this issue. The rooms are not soundproof, so you can even hear snoring from the next room. Breakfast is also very expensive (35 GEL) and not worth the price. Overall, the value for money is very poor, there are much better guesthouses in Khalde for a more reasonable price.

You feel that they care here. Super clean!! Super comfortable beds, super cosy room, lovely outside area, wonderful view over the mountains. After a very rainy day on our Mestia-Ushguli trek we loved getting inside while the fireplace was already on. Where we were offered to dry our very wet boots. After many days of cheese-filled bread and cucumber-tomato-salad everywhere, it was a welcomed surprise besides other delicious things to get also warm and tasty porridge in the morning. Prices are higher then usual, but we felt it was worth it. We liked it here a lot!

We stopped here on our hike before continuing to Ushguli the next day. Very comfortable beds - private bathroom and a great view! We had dinner and breakfast there - both good as well! The price is a bit more than other guesthouses, as it is more a hotel, but still very doable.
