Manoir de la Bégaudière

Sadly and exceptionally the owners were not present for the duration of our stay as they had other obligations elsewhere. I am perhaps too old fashioned but I missed the human hospitality touch ... finding a key in a coded box ... getting assistance in finding a restaurant ... not having any hospitality staff around doesn't do it for me. Superb manor and rather conveniently located. The rooms are ok and the concept is self catering which works fine if you know your way around. As we arrived late on a high season date, we battled to find a place to eat. Although the rooms and buildings have been renovated, fittings are rather cheap and of poor quality ... lighting is also not great - obviously it requires more budget but it would have been worth investing a bit more in more durable fittings. No amenities available. Pricing was fair. If you are after a self catering address, especially with kids, this place is for you. This is personal but I prefer fully fledged hospitality with breakfast and being hosted. The manor buildings are actually exquisite.

It’s a very charming building. The cottage we had was beautiful decorated and made us feel at home. Next to that their was a private garden/terras with a own parking spot next to the cottage. The location is very central to all of high lights in Bretagne. But also don’t forget to visit the small towns of Mont-dol and Dol-de-Bretagne which are very beautiful and are just a 5 minute drive from the property. Last, but not least the hosts are very friendly and caring for their guests. When I had a little accident with my bike, they directly came to aid.

Beautiful manor with great host. Perfect getaway to explore all the great villages and towns nearby. Saturday market in Mont Dol is also a must visit, quite big with lots of stalls. Try to see the boat graveyard.
