Hotel Koener

This is a large, mid-range hotel with an interesting interior lay out and in a great location in the pedestrianised centre of the old town. There is a brasserie style restauran as well as a large breakfast buffet room, which is located next to a good-sized function room. Hotel Koener is an excellent place to stay with attentive and friendly staff and, especially if you use the spa, is superb value for money.

Its not a brand new hotel but its very very clean even de spa is very clean. Breakfast was perfect. So many choices yo choose from. It is my my second time visiting this hotel. I will definitely come back for more.

I have stayed at this hotel twice, and the experiences were very different. On my first visit, I stayed in a suite and had an excellent experience. The room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, and the stay felt relaxing and well thought out. Visiting in the summer, I appreciated having both air conditioning and a fan. The bathroom was spacious with both a shower and a clawfoot tub, which really elevated the stay. That visit easily earned five stars. The second visit was much less comfortable. I booked a regular room with a queen bed, but instead it was two twin beds pushed together that separated during the night, making sleep very uncomfortable. The bed itself was not restful. The bathroom lighting was motion activated, which became frustrating. If you spent more than about two minutes in the shower, the lights turned off and you had to step out to trigger them again. There was also no way to keep the lights off at night, so using the bathroom caused all the lights to turn on, which disrupted sleep. Overall, this stay did not feel restful and earned two stars. Across both visits, the staff consistently provided excellent service. They were friendly, helpful, and welcoming every time, which truly stood out and deserves five stars. The quality of the stay seems to depend heavily on the room type. The suite was outstanding, while the standard room had significant comfort issues. Excellent staff helps balance the experience, but room consistency would greatly improve the overall rating.
