Stopped here for lunch with my family, including my 1 year old (this was booked and a highchair provided). When I asked if there were any baby changing facilities I was met with a rather unnecessary, sarcastic comment from the man behind the bar. He looked rather exasperated that he even be asked the question by someone visiting with a baby - and referenced the year the pub was built and that they didn't think to include that when they built the place. A simple no would have sufficed, but I have to say I've been to plenty of older buildings that still provide a safe and secure area to change babies. A member of my family asked about the flavour of a cider and again was met with a response that indicated he didn't know and why on earth would someone ask such a question. Whilst eating our meal, we again heard him being quite rude to a larger party that came in and asked if they had space to which he said "have you seen the size of this pub" in a sarcastic tone, again not a way to encourage people to visit another time. The ladies that brought the food out were very polite and friendly so I can't fault them. But the attitude of this man was enough to put me off from coming back, but to also dissuade anyone else from visiting if they are in the area. Never known such poor attitude from someone working in a place such as a pub. The food wasn't great, but edible. Beef was quite tough on our board. Cauliflower cheese was fantastic though.

Simply had a lovely time staying here. I love the rustic atmosphere. The room was clean and good size, everything you need and very comfy. The bathroom was equally spotless and had a great bath with all you needed. Breakfast was fantastic, service was good, very accommodating and trustworthy. If you are tall person however, be careful on the doors. Would Absolutly recommend, idea location as well.

We always make a point of visiting here whenever we’re in Chepstow, as it’s a wonderful pub full of character and charm. It has a cosy, homely atmosphere with a traditional countryside feel that makes it very welcoming. The food is consistently well presented, generously portioned, and full of flavour, making it excellent value for money. There’s a great selection of locally brewed beers alongside a good range of other drinks, so there’s something for everyone. The pub also hosts regular live music events, which add to the friendly and lively atmosphere. One of the highlights is the beer garden, which offers lovely views overlooking the beautiful Chepstow Castle — a perfect spot to relax in warmer weather. A fantastic place to eat, drink, and unwind. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors alike.
