B&B Solacium

The hosts could not be nicer, more accommodating and knowledgeable about their town. They were truly delightful. The large garden is a very special place, really a botanical garden with many beautiful trees and plants and a breeze and coolness any hour of the hot day. The apartments are nicely, tastefully decorated with well furnished kitchens and bathrooms. The Solacium is located on the edge of town and within walking distance of the historic center (20 minutes). There is history to the name Solacium and the host has a delightful way to tell it. Lastly, breakfast includes just baked specially delicious cornetti, juice, yogurt, coffee, tea and various sweets and buns. We left after a night's stay feeling we had really hit upon a jewel of an accommodation.

Matera is enchanting, but we also treasure the stories and advice of Mr. Cataldo, the property's owner. Excellently located for reaching the Sassi, the services offered are complete with every comfort, including a delicious breakfast featuring fresh local croissants. Cleaning is done daily. The property is located in a residential area next to Ginestre Park and just a short walk from the center of Matera, a mere 3-minute drive away. The owners, Lia and Cataldo, are fabulous and extremely knowledgeable about providing tourists with information about this magical city, rich in delicious treats and enchanting places. The apartment is clean and well-maintained, equipped with everything they need, including a fully equipped kitchen, to enjoy a delicious breakfast, complete with delicious fresh croissants, which Lia promptly served to us on an outdoor table in the shade of a beautiful terrace surrounded by greenery.
