In Pendueles, there are several hostel options, and I don’t think we made the best choice by coming here. It’s a small hostel with a large number of beds, which also serves as a restaurant — yet without offering any discounts for pilgrims or breakfast included, despite what you might read elsewhere. Be careful when making your reservation to ensure you’re understood correctly: we only got in by chance, as our request was mistaken for a table for two rather than two beds. We nearly ended up sleeping outside that night. The beach is a bit far, but worth the walk, especially for its stunning sunset. The biggest problem with this hostel — aside from the lack of staff available after late afternoon (all busy working in the restaurant) — is the bathroom setup: toilets, showers, and sinks are all behind a single locked door, which any other guest can monopolise for as long as they wish. Overall, we were quite dissatisfied with our stay and would have preferred to spend the night in another hostel or village. I do not recommend it.

I don't know what people expect for €15 for a night's stay and breakfast; it's a hostel, not a hotel. If things have to be shared, they should be shared—that's the whole point. Two showers for 22 people? A little organization would be nice, but to give it one star and not recommend it seems excessive, especially since people make a living doing this. The Mexican food was amazing, and that michelada at the end of the stage, when we were exhausted, was spectacular. It's more than adequate for sleeping after a hard day's ride. Anyone wanting luxury should walk a little further and stay in a hotel in Llanes.

Terrible experience, the worst of the ENTIRE Northern Way. After booking, I had to stay in the same room as the owner: the room had everything (kitchen, iron, restaurant food... No comment). That night, returning from work, she came into the room several times, turning on the light and disturbing me with the lights on, etc. So much for rest for the pilgrim! It's just a money-draining machine (€17 for not having slept at all and with no shared kitchen or other services!) Highly not recommended!
