Guesthouse Mehmeti

We enjoyed our two night stay at Guesthouse Mehmeti. Nice family running the place and the location in Valbonë was great - very peaceful as it's away from the developed, busier end of town and retains some of the more traditional mountain charm. It had a lovely garden to sit out in with a beer and look at the mountains. The room was comfortable enough. There was a subtle musty smell in the bedroom which could maybe be improved with better ventilation. The food was quite basic but fine (we ate dinner there the first night and ate out on second night for a bit of variety) and we were able to get a packed lunch to take hiking with us, which was appreciated. Slight improvement points would be offering fresh coffee at breakfast (only mint tea was offered and we love our caffeine... This was the only place on our 10 day trip that didn't offer fresh coffee) and improving the water flow in the shower (a new shower head maybe and slightly improved water pressure).

Valbona has become oddly built up in recent years, and Guesthouse Mehmeti manages to be in the region that still has the classic charm. The people who run the place are wonderful, very helpful, the rooms are clean. Much of the food at breakfast is grown in the garden, the eggs come from the chickens at the guesthouse, and the honey is made on site. The honey is unbelievable, frankly. Would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to all my friends.

What a great little spot. Staff are super friendly and very hospitable. Great location for hiking and away from the main town so nice and quiet. They grow all their own vegetables and have chickens and cows so everything is fresh. The dinner is fantastic and all home made. Would definitely recommend this place.
