Pretty location and views. Great for if you're going to the balloon festival in january as you can walk from hotel in a few mintues. Good selection for breakfast (continental). Room was average for a single room. Only comment is you can request it, but there is so kettle and hot drinks options in the room. No extras apart from a basic hairdryer. Would return again if in the area, but go knowing its basic rooms and was a little pricey for what you get

Stayed here as part of an organised Newmarket trip which was only let down by this hotel. The room we stayed in was very basic, too hot (no A/C - not even a fan) and very dark - It didn't appear to have been refurbished since the 1970s. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms - We knew about this in advance so packed a travel kettle, however, we had to balance this on a suitcase as the only usable sockets were at waist height. There was one socket that was above a bedside table and would have been ideal for the kettle - but this had a plug in it which you were instructed not to remove - it seems that this was the power source (via an extension cord) for the TV and associated box. There was supposed to be WiFi in all rooms but we were unable to connect at all in chalet 1, despite numerous guests reporting the issue on a daily basis. On one occasion we were told the reason for the lack of coverage was that the router for it was in a guest room (!!!) and they had unplugged the socket for their kettle - The staff member went to rectify this but it made no difference. I don't know in what world it would make sense to put a WiFi router in a guest room where they could disable it. Evening meals were only available for 5 of the 7 nights and there is a fixed menu with no choice (other than vegetarian). We ate 3 of the 5 meals we had paid for during our stay, one of which was ok but nothing special, the other 2 were very poor. The vegetarian option was whatever the regular meal was with the meat exchanged for something else - tasteless corn fritters (in place of a chicken leg) with potatoes and carrots; tasteless falafel (in place of fish) with tasteless rice; sloppy vegetables (in place of meat loaf - more like a burger apparently) with sloppy mashed potato. We heard through other guests that the 2 meals we missed were awful. Breakfast was basic but ok. WOULD NOT RETURN.

On arrival we were told we would need to hire a kettle and plug if we wished to use them. This was not explained in the brochure. Included in the cost of the holiday was 5 evening meals, however they were not available the first 2 nights. There was no explanation as to why. Guests then had to go to the local shop to buy things and the local pub for the evening meal. The menu choice was very limited and there was no fresh fruit or vegetables. The 3rd nights meal was what can only be described as suitable for a young child given the size. The hotel staff clearly need some updated training and work on their manners. The one positive was Wendy our guide who looked embarrassed at the situation.
