My wife and I spent one night at the Freddie Mercury, and we were generally happy with the experience. The room had a few dirty elements when we arrived (toilet not cleaned), and there was no remote control for the television. I agree with other reviews about the noise from the train station, but it was not terrible and I had little trouble sleeping. The proximity to the train station was a positive. The staff were terrific during check in and check out, and the breakfast was worth the 18 CHF when compared with what we would get in Montreaux. I recommend this hotel for those just passing through Montreaux as a part of a larger trip. The hotel is only a brief walk from the Riveria and a short train ride from Chillon Castle (trains leave every hour, so time it well or take the bus service).

Disappointed with our two night stay. We booked a double room and a twin room for mum and 2 daughters, and were put on separate levels because they didn't have a twin room and double room on the same floor. Yet the twin room we were assigned was set up as a double room anyway?! The kettle didn't work, three out of five lights didn't work, there was a light globe flickering in the hallway the entire time, the vending machine was out of service and the laundry machines were expensive and had issues with functioning. There's a distinct lack of care and maintenance, although when asked at check out about the quality of our stay, the lady was apologetic when I answered honestly with the list of issues I had reported. On the plus side, the bathroom and shower were nice, and I enjoyed the breakfast.

Clean and spacious room, and it is literally next to platform 1 of the train station. But it was very close to the railway that some noises from overnight trains can also be heard even the windows are closed. It did not affect my sleep though. Couldn’t complaint as the price was reasonable, the location was excellent and the room was comfortable.
