We stayed for 2 nights with my lovely Yes-Trips group (Hi guys if you are seeing this!) Hostel is great, clean and staff is awsome. They provide suits, boots and gloves for that extreme cold. They have sauna and you can go out and shock body with cold and snow while you watch the aurora borealis 🤯 And you also can have a husky slide tour with friendly dogs (thanks for the ride Daniel!) Must visit place for me, definitly suggest it 👍🏻

The rooms in the hostel look more like a barracks or a prison cell, and there is an old, unpleasant smell. For this price, the place really needs renovation and some basic comfort updates. The shared kitchen is old, the furniture is worn out, and the surfaces feel too dirty to touch. We barely managed to stay for one night. To take a shower, you have to go outside, which is extremely inconvenient in winter. There is a sauna, and it’s free for guests, which is a nice addition. The rooms do not lock, which raises security concerns… what if someone steals personal belongings? There is no sound insulation at all; people talk and shout in the corridors, and it’s impossible to rest. On the positive side, the location is good, about a 15-minute walk to the lake with one of the best views of the Northern Lights. And on the hostel grounds, you can see the huskies and even book a husky sledding tour.

Upsides: Cheapest residence around. Free cross country skis. Free snow boots. Free sauna (between 20:00-21:00). Great if you want to take a dog sled tour Downsides: Stove quite broken (only two small places to heat worked). Kitchen ventilation broken. Lead to smell when people cooked. 1 bathroom for around 12 people. So always a bit of a queue. Shower in different house. No way to lock our private room. A bit worrying to leave our stuff unattended.
