I travel a lot, but I have to admit that a city break is not as relaxing as a vacation surrounded by nature. I made the mistake of spending my last vacation in a hotel in the center of Malaga, where there was constant noise and no parking. That's why I chose to go to the mountains with my friends for the weekend. Posada La Plaza is a gem in Canillas de Albaida, perfectly combining stunning mountain and sea views with exceptional hospitality. I spent 3 nights at Villa Gabriel, it was an amazing experience relaxing on top of a mountain overlooking the sea. The barbecue by the pool, clean rooms of high standard and the fireplace in the living room created a fabulous atmosphere. In restaurant the chef, originally from Brazil, brings a unique style to the menu, creating delightful dishes that reflect both local and international flavours. The charming, whitewashed town adds to the atmosphere, making it the perfect escape for those seeking beauty and relaxation. Whether you’re enjoying a meal on the terrace or exploring the picturesque surroundings, this is an experience not to be missed. This hidden gem in the mountains is a must-see.

The room was not good. It was extremely small, had a musty smell, and I saw ants crawling around in the bathroom sink when I first entered it. The comforter on top of the sheets had some strange faded spots. The hotel apparently “cleans” your room every day which means they go in and make the bed but replace nothing. No towels are changed and no shower gel is replaced. All you get are ridiculously minuscule bottles of shower gel at the beginning of your stay and a hand soap. Nothing else whatsoever in terms of toiletries. The wifi worked for a cumulative 2 hours during my 3 night stay. It was non functional most of the time. After 2 nights of staying, I asked for fresh towels. I stayed for 3 nights so it was not an unreasonable request (the tiny bathroom gets wet and does not dry so towels have to used so floor etc for so it does not remain wet/slippery). What i found when I returned to my room after making the request was that someone had picked up dirty towels off the floor and hung them up again. It was an absolutely disgusting thing to do. When I mentioned this to the owner he made me follow him to a supply closet and then threw a towel at me in a rude and obnoxious manner. Extremely disrespectful and disconcerting. Not to mention the aggressive rudeness at breakfast (extreme hawkishness around people taking items for eating later) and variable service depending on the client group. Several people if not most people in the group I was traveling with experienced or noted rude/mercurial behavior from the owner. The food and drinks were actually pretty good at the hotel restaurant for dinner. The server was competent/responsive but seemed absolutely miserable, and had a pained and disgruntled look painted across their face whenever he served me which added another layer of discomfort to the generally uncomfortable atmosphere. After a roller coaster ride of emotions from the owner who frequently teeters from over-friendliness/joviality to overt rudeness, and the terrible accommodations, I would not recommend this place. Chatting with some local people in the town/nearby villages indicated other hotels in the area are a better bet and safe from the wild mood swings and variable service from the owner of this place. I would recommend staying away from this place and enjoying other accommodations and restaurants in the charming village of Canillas or other nearby villages/towns. Before posting here, I noted several invalidating responses to the copious negative reviews claiming the people didn’t actually stay at the hotel. I most definitely did stay for 3 nights and am posting photos as proof. A clear indicator/red flag of bad ownership and service is gaslighting and invalidating negative experiences. I would have avoided this place if it wasn't booked by a group travel company. The travel groups seem to be bread and butter for this place now, yet the owner makes people uncomfortable with his antics and stingy accommodations.

Great location on a nice charming square in a quiet white village in the hills with several opportunities for hiking. Hotel looks great on the outside. Inside the building is authentic with many stairs and tight hallways. Our room was basic with hardly any daylight. Biggest minus point: we got clean towels only once during our one week stay. Breakfast was simple but ok.
