Derrynane Hotel & Oceanfront Cottages

The hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the sea. Despite it clearly being an older building, the inside of the hotel was very clean and tidy, the staff was lovely also and sorted us out with a late dinner upon our arrival. The dinner was spectacular I must say. Probably the best veggie burger I ever had, the toppings slightly deviated from the menu description, but honestly i think that made it even better (i.e. iceberg lettuce instead of rocket). I absolutely loved every bite. The bed was super comfy too. Disliked · Having to book dinner in the hotel restaurant was a little problematic as we arrived late and were told the restaurant was full. Now they did offer a pizza menu as well, but in the end the really lovely lady in the restaurant managed to get us in for the dinner menu. The room was a little cold, but there was a heater provided. No ventilation in the bathroom but that didn't bother us much.

Lovely staff in all areas. Food was very good and plenty of it. Fantastic views provided you get a sea view room. Outdoor swimming pool is not heated. Family room was smaller than usual but we only slept there. Overall a lovely place. Will definitely be back.

The staff are lovely, views and location are amazing, but needs some improvement. The rooms could be cleaner and modernized but not a deal breaker. What really lost it stars was the dinner. It was very poor to the point that the kids wouldn't eat it and we didn't finish ours. Didn't seem fresh or quality ingredients.
