Excellent location in the heart of the town with discounted local public parking to the rear of the hotel accessible via the rear doors-charged at the end of your stay. Access for wheel chairs and buggies to ground floor areas but rooms upstairs do have a lift to general floors but there are rooms that are not accessible by the lift. Rooms are various shapes and size in this old building but newly decorated and carpeted. Our room No 12 was a reasonable with a shower but was very small and limited manoeuvrability once in due to a rear hand rail in your back. Be careful with room location as the rooms to the rear of the hotel are above the function room area which kept us awake until midnight with the disco two floors below. Reasonable bar area to the front of the hotel, which also serves food and a separate restaurant and function room. Service was slow at the bar who also over charged us by one extra pint due to one staff member only serving a lot of guests. All staff were friendly and the reception area was nicely decorated for Christmas. Food in the restaurant had some good options and generally good but our steaks were medium to well done though we asked for medium rare and no offer to correct or compensate. Good cooked breakfast options and some self serve fruit, pastry and cereal options. Reasonable place to stay based on the price package at the time of year on offer.

Location great. Service great. Seating great. Very expensive for the food you get. Main & dessert & I was still hungry. I wouldn't mind if it was gorgeous food but it was just nice

I love the Skiddaw Hotel in the heart of Keswick, it is a super friendly, cosy getaway. You walk out of the front door straight onto the main square, which is an easy walk to plenty of cosy pubs and restaurants. At Christmas they always do really well with the Christmas decorations, making it feel really warm and welcoming. The rooms are nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed. I like to stay in the Prestige rooms, where you get a bit more space and some comfy chairs, especially nice if it is chucking it down outside. I would highly recommend this hotel.
